Two words, dear readers, and then goodnight indeed: Testimony envy.
Backstory:
On Sunday people were talking in Sunday school about testimonies. You know, conversion experiences.
Many people who've never had a conversion experience, or not an exciting one, for some pathetic reason feel like lesser Christians because they haven't got a blinding-light-and-speaking-ass sort of story to tell.
For the record, I've never had a conversion experience, so it's not like I'm up with the Holies and God, looking down on the earthly pragmatists.
I'm not that petty.
But somebody referred to this phenomenon of self-conscious Christians never struck by the Spirit in a powerful way as "testimony envy."
The end.
